It’s a time not only for celebration but also for remembering the sacrifices that paved the way for our freedom. To commemorate the 77th Independence Day of India in a unique and meaningful manner, our honorable Prime Minister has proposed an innovative initiative.

Overview of the Campaign:

During the 103rd episode of Mann Ki Baat on July 30, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the “Meri Mati, Mera Desh” campaign. This program, scheduled from August 9 to 30, aims to honor the spirit of our land and the valor of our heroes. The campaign carries the slogan “Mitti Ko Naman, Veeron Ka Vandan.” The activities commence on August 9 and continue until Independence Day on August 15, 2023. Following this, events will unfold from August 16, 2023, spanning local, regional, and state levels. The grand culmination will take place on August 30, 2023, at Kadhwati Path in New Delhi, involving esteemed participants. A significant high point awaits in New Delhi, where 75,000 young individuals from across the nation will unite for a mega event.

Aim of the Meri Mati Mera Desh Campaign:

“Meri Mati, Mera Desh” is a significant component of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, which garnered immense public engagement since its launch on March 12, 2021. This campaign seeks to kindle patriotism and love for our nation by encouraging active participation in its diverse activities. It seeks to bridge divides and nurture harmony among people from various backgrounds. Furthermore, the campaign extends its gratitude to unsung heroes of the freedom struggle and pays homage to our valiant defenders.

Events and Celebrations:

This year’s campaign encompasses a series of programs and events at multiple levels, ranging from local to national. Among them, the “Amrit Kalash Yatra” stands out, wherein soil from 7500 earthen Kalash, representing villages and regions nationwide, will be brought to Delhi. This soil will be used to create the “Amrit Vatika” within the National War Memorial, serving as a symbol of unity. The campaign includes constructing memorial marks called “Shilaphalakam” to honor heroes across all communities. Events like Vasudha Bandhan, Panch Pran Pledge, and Veeron Ka Vandan are also on the agenda. The campaign concludes with the hoisting of the National Flag and the singing of the Rashtragaan.
